We're Fighting Alzheimer's by
Participating in The Longest Day!

The Longest Day is all about love for all those
affected by Alzheimer's disease.  The Summer
Solstice is the longest day of the year, so the
Alzheimer’s Association wants us to spend that day
doing something we love to help raise money and
spread awareness for those with this disease.  We’ve decided to have a lemonade and snack stand at The Eye Center on June 21st because we love sharing a classic joy of summer while also fundraising.  Alzheimer’s is a lifelong illness, so spending the longest day of the year to recognize and raise funds is the best way to fill it.

We also have a special link to Alzheimer’s because there’s some similarities with hearing loss and Alzheimer’s in terms of their symptoms.  Over 48 million Americans suffer from hearing loss and an estimated 5.7 million suffer from Alzheimer’s.  The symptoms of untreated hearing loss and Alzheimer’s are almost identical. Symptoms include:
  • Withdrawal form work or social activities
  • Impaired memory
  • The inability to learn new tasks
  • Reduced alertness
  • Compromised personal safety
  • Irritability, anger, fatigue, stress, and depression
We want to raise awareness and share the importance of keeping an eye on all of these indications for Alzheimer’s and hearing loss and visiting your doctors regularly.  You never know what talking out your symptoms can do to help us discover what the problem really is.

The Hearing Center of Ohio is dedicated to helping support the cause to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and to helping anyone with a hearing loss as much as we can.  Please, help us fundraise by donating online (click the button below) or in person at our office.
